Nursing Care
What is Nursing Care?
Nursing care is an entirely bespoke level of residential living, defined by the medical needs of each resident. It can be difficult to determine the different types of nursing care available but generally speaking, it is always supervised by a registered qualified nurse.
Nursing differs from other types of care, such as residential or dementia, in that it involves specialist clinical care that allows people with complex conditions to live safely and feel supported.
Nursing care can be vital for people with progressive neurological conditions, such as MND or Multiple Sclerosis, as well as individuals who have suffered strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, advanced dementia or terminal cancer.
One of the key benefits of nursing care is the round-the-clock support, both medically and with daily life tasks. Nursing homes have registered nurses on duty 24 hours a day to provide care for people with complex and advanced diseases needing regular assistance. Nursing homes are well equipped with specialist beds and toilet facilities to provide support when manoeuvring.
When choosing a care option, it is important to keep the future in mind. Will that person benefit from greater levels of care in the future? Our nurses are trained to recognise changes in a person’s condition, which is essential when aiming to deliver the most committed and effective care available.
Our Nursing Care Service
Our specialist nursing homes are carefully designed environments, with nursing equipment, to support people living with disabilities, immobility and particular conditions. Most importantly, we have a fully trained team of registered nurses, whose qualifications are kept up-to-date to provide the medical expertise necessary for day-to-day care for most long-term conditions.
We coordinate closely with GPs, pharmacists and specialist medical teams to ensure that each resident, with ongoing nursing needs, receives the highest standards of care in an environment that feels homely. We strive to create a welcoming and homely atmosphere and our nursing homes really do feel like a family community.
Our meals are freshly prepared by a dedicated catering team with menus that changes daily. If you or your loved one has specific dietary requirements, we are fully equipped to cater for them as well. Friends and family are always welcome to visit for lunch or join for afternoon tea.
Our staff at Westgate Healthcare are trained and qualified to provide the best care possible, whilst preserving the dignity and independence of our residents. No two people require the same type of care, delivered in the same manner, which is why we develop personalised nursing care plans which are regularly revised to ensure we attend to our residents’ needs as closely as possible.
There’s no substitute for seeing our care in action. We’d love you to visit your nearest care home and meet our staff, nurses and the people who live with us.
