Westgate Christmas Competition Goes Green

Westgate Healthcare’s Christmas Creativity Competition 2023 has closed and the winning entry has been announced, congratulations to all homes that entered.

Groupwide, residents and teams were challenged to design and create a festive Christmas Tree to display either indoors or outdoors within their home. The only requisite was that it was to be made out of recycled materials as part of Westgate Healthcare’s GoGreen sustainability drive.

The winning design by Byron House Care Home was chosen by a Head Office voting process, whereby each home provided a comprehensive presentation including final images of their entry, ensuring the winning design fulfilled the original project brief. The winning design will appear on the front cover of the 2023 corporate e-Christmas card.

Byron’s team and residents pulled together to create an outdoor tree using recycled pallets from their newly renovated decking area. Decorations were made from old bottles, cardboard and empty medicine packets! The snow was made from shredded paper and the star was made from an old catering appliance.

All homes that entered demonstrated their creativity, and the evidence provided showcased the enthusiasm and enjoyment both residents and team members had with the task, capturing what Christmas is all about, having fun.

Take a peak at the video of all entries.

Many congratulations to Byron House Care Home, for the outstanding contribution by everyone involved in meticulously planning, organising and constructing all the individual components for the winning Christmas Card design!
