Residents at St Pauls Care Centre begin their Lifestyle Pioneer roles

Following the launch of the unique ‘Lifestyle Pioneer’ programme earlier this month, residents across Westgate Healthcare have started their roles within their home.

The roles have been adapted to suit the residents and their personal interests, and every Lifestyle Pioneer will have the opportunity to work alongside the staff at their home to carry out their duties.

Roy, Resident Gardener at St Pauls Care Centre, said:
“It’s so nice to be able to show everyone how to plant vegetables, I feel like a young’en!”

David, Resident Representative at St Pauls Care Centre, said:
“I’ve really enjoyed getting out and giving back to the community.”

Mary, Resident Event Pioneer at St Pauls Care Centre, said:
“I’ve always worked so it’s great doing what I’ve always known!”

Tara Teubner, Director at Westgate Healthcare, said:
“Westgate Healthcare believe that by creating an open community where residents are empowered to take on a role within their care home we can build stronger relationships and enable our residents to enjoy a greater sense of purpose and pride.”

Each of the homes across the Westgate group will be empowering their residents to join the new Lifestyle Pioneer programme, whether they choose to become a Resident Gardener, Day Lounge Monitor, Event Pioneer or Food Critic – the roles are limitless.
