Team members complete Firewalk Challenge raising funds for Mount Vernon Hospital

On Saturday 9th March, our Customer Relations Manager Tracy Cox, from Burford House Care Home and Marketing Manager, Sarah Williams from Head Office took part in a Firewalk raising funds for Mount Vernon Hospital, as part of their ongoing community relations.

Over 100 participants took part in this thrilling challenge testing courage resilience and determination. Experienced trainers guided the participants through the preparation process, teaching techniques to conquer the fire safely, focusing the mind and channelling energy to overcome self-doubt.

The event enabled people of all ages, the eldest participant of 91 down to children aged 11, to challenge themselves and create lasting memories. Located outside the Michael Sobell House, situated on the grounds of Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, all participants were supported by loved ones to complete the challenge.

Tracy Cox, Customer Relations Manager of Burford House Care Home said, “The Firewalk event was an extraordinary opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and conquer your fears, whilst raising money for an amazing cause. Sarah and myself were very proud to represent Burford House Care Home at this event and it was an exhilarating evening.”

Collectively the pair raised nearly £200 for the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, overall charity funds are still coming in, with the hope to raise over £20,000, enabling the both the centre and Harlington Hospice to continue to bring much needed palliative care to the surrounding communities during the most vulnerable moments in their lives.
