Westgate Healthcare, a leading provider of compassionate and personalized care services, proudly shares the extraordinary career progression of Kyla Darling, who has risen from a dedicated Care Worker at the age of 17 to the esteemed position of Home Manager.

Kyla embarked on a journey of growth, learning, and professional development and through a combination of hard work, dedication, and continuous education, Kyla has evolved into a dynamic leader and beacon of inspiration within the organization.

Kyla started her career in health and social care as a care worker in 2007, quickly becoming senior carer then qualifying as a Nurse in 2016, after which she shortly became Clinical lead. Throughout this time Kyla gained a wealth of in-depth knowledge into the health and social care.

Since joining Westgate Healthcare in 2021, Kyla has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the well-being of clients. She consistently evaluates scenarios, conducts audits, performs root cause analysis, creates action plans, and implements change in a positive way to ensure the service is well led and reactive to the ever changing health and social care priorities, guidance and best practice. During her tenure as Home Manager at Byron House Care Home, Kyla and her team achieved an Outstanding CQC Rating, in three areas, Caring, Well-Led and Responsive, making it the only Outstanding Home in the area.

The Care Quality Commission stated “The registered manager provided exceptional leadership and had developed a dedicated staff team who were committed to providing outstanding care. Staff were motivated by, and proud of the service. They loved being part of dedicated team and vowed to provide excellent care. The registered manager was fully dedicated to providing high quality care that achieved the best possible outcomes for people. Without exception, feedback about the registered manager was exceedingly positive in relation to exceptional leadership skills and caring, empathetic approach to everyone.”

Kyla is a great believer in empowering team members to reach their potential, encouraging strengths and providing training and guidance in areas for improvement. Her unique managerial approach gives her a thorough oversight of care management, enabling her to form professional working relationships with team members, multidisciplinary teams and external regulatory bodies.

Her passion for the mental wellbeing of team members and residents is evident, ensuring everyone is kept up to date via individual and group supervisions, handovers, robust care planning and regular communications. Prioritising her resident’s safety, she ensures they are listened to and are treated with dignity and respect, enhancing their emotional and mental wellbeing. This is evident in the quality and diversity of the activities available within in the home.
