Chatterbox is unique to Westgate Healthcare and is all about building meaningful relationships with our residents. The idea is that at each hand over, our team take a card from the box and ask their residents a question. This encourages conversation and helps us to get to know residents like's and dislikes as well as hearing stories about their lives and experiences they might like to share but wouldn't think to speak about unless prompted.
Kingfisher recently incorporated Chatterbox in to their regular Friday Fika and the results were outstanding. Home manager Mary said:
Chatterbox really encouraged residents to talk. One of our residents who never says a word to anyone was chatting away like never before, starting with the nurse who asked her a question from the Chatterbox, she then went on to have a great chat with the home administrator and couldn’t stop! Staff were coming closer just to hear her talk as she had never been vocal before and I had tears in my eyes for the joy that Chatterbox had brought to our residents, this lady in particular. It really brought everyone together and we will be making use of Chatterbox on a daily basis.
