Press Release – Burford House Plant a Tree at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre
On Monday 10th October 2023, our Customer Relations Manager at Burford House Care Home and Head Office team members were honoured to be invited to plant a Stanley Plum Tree at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre as part of their exciting project to create a peaceful orchard for patients to experience during their care and treatment.
Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) is a leading specialist cancer centre providing outpatient chemotherapy, radiotherapy, brachytherapy and an acute oncology service, treating over 5,000 patients each year from a large catchment population of almost 2 million including those from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire and Northwest London.
Mount Vernon Cancer Centre have been working with local community schools, businesses and volunteers to re-generate the large green space creating different areas for patients to benefit from, including an orchard walkway, wildflower meadow and butterfly walk with the aim to provide a calm, peaceful space.
Burford House Care Home are proud to be supporting East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and look forward to further building on their recent fundraising and donations, including taking part in Moor Park Fun Run, donating a beautiful bird box and a spa hair and nail voucher for a ‘Staff Wellness Awareness’ Week.
Customer Relations Manager Tracy said ‘The team and I feel very honoured to be part of such a special occasion at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. The initiative involves community, wellness and sustainability, and encourages colleagues to connect and engage with one another allowing us to work in an open and inclusive way’.
The Centre of Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) has encouraged the development and use of green spaces by providing trees for its NHS Forest and a fulltime Nature Recovery Ranger to work with NHS staff, volunteers and patients. Burford House continues to support the wonderful work carried out by all fellow colleagues.
