Brain training group at Westgate House

The rehabilitation team at Westgate House Care Centre have recently set up a brand new initiative called ‘The Brain Training Group’, an engaging programme of activity sessions, designed to improve cognitive function needed for daily life skills and overall mental health, well-being and confidence. The group has been created to help our rehab residents maintain brain function and their independence by improving memory and attention. It also provides social stimulation and the opportunity to engage with like-minded people, encouraging the development of social skills and building upon the existing rapport between residents and staff.

Sessions include Reality Orientation, Reminiscence Therapy, Cognitive Stimulation, Discussion Sessions and Multisensory Stimulation together with a wide variety of topics including food, world events, current affairs and leisure interests as well as fun quizzes and lively debates.

The group meets every Tuesday and is proving a great hit with our residents. Please contact Chrissie at Westgate House for more details.
