Senior Registered Nurse Named Finalist at Palliative and End of Life Care Awards

Westgate Healthcare is proud to announce that Digna Cesione, a dedicated Senior Registered Nurse at Chestnut Manor Care Home, has been selected as a finalist at the Palliative and End of Life Care Awards. This recognition honours healthcare professionals who demonstrate exceptional commitment, compassion, and excellence in providing palliative and end-of-life care.

Digna is passionate about providing holistic person-centred end of life care and has consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication to her residents, providing not only medical care but also emotional support and comfort to those in need. Her holistic approach to palliative care ensures that residents receive comprehensive care addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

With over 18 months experience at Chestnut Manor Care Home, Senior Registered Nurse Digna works collaboratively with her team and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure strong clinical outcomes. She has completed the Quality in End-of-Life Care Training Programme, is a Trainer in Oral Care at the End of Life and is also proficient in complex care such as Syringe Drivers, Chest Drains and Complex Dressings.

Digna works closely with the End-of-Life Facilitator for Redbridge, hosting monthly meetings to review residents End of Life Care needs within the home and is pioneering some fantastic opportunities alongside Redbridge Integrated Care Board with regards to Palliative Prescribing.

Digna hosts a monthly Death Café for our local community to come and speak about all things Death and Dying in a safe environment. She meets with residents and their loved ones to conduct care plan reviews and sets the standard for our student nurses, sharing her extensive knowledge and expertise.

The awards ceremony will take place on 28th June 2024 at the Marriott Hotel, Regents Park, where the winners will be announced. Being named a finalist is a significant achievement and a reflection of Digna’s exceptional skills and dedication to her profession. Digna was also awarded Nurse of the Year at Westgate Healthcare’s Awards in November 2023.
