Honouring Residents and Community Connections at Kingfisher
On Friday 20th June, Kingfisher Nursing Home had the honour of welcoming Mayor Patsy Spears. She is a long-serving Broxbourne councillor known for her strong commitment to community wellbeing and engagement. Her visit was a special one, celebrating ‘What Life is Like’ within the care home community. It also marked the end of Care Home Open Week.
Sharing Stories and Smiles Together
Residents, staff, and family members gathered in the garden to enjoy sweet treats and refreshments. While doing so, they explored Westgate Healthcare’s innovative Chatterbox cards. This initiative encourages meaningful conversations, sparking reflections and laughter. Everyone enjoyed sharing stories about life at Kingfisher.
During her visit, Mayor Patsy spent time chatting warmly with residents and staff, taking a genuine interest in their stories and experiences. She was incredibly personable, caring, and thoughtful, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
A Ceremony to Remember: Burying the Time Capsule
In a memorable highlight, Mayor Patsy joined the home in a special ceremony to bury a time capsule. This capsule contains a selection of items and letters important to the home. It aims to preserve cherished memories for future generations to discover.
Wishes, Flowers, and Future Plans
As part of the day’s celebrations, Jean, a resident and Lifestyle Pioneer Florist, created a beautiful flower arrangement with her daughter to display in the home. Jean also added her personal wish to the home’s ‘Make a Wish’ tree, which she hung with Mayor Patsy. Everyone looks forward to welcoming the Mayor back when the wish is fulfilled in the coming months.
