Introducing the Westgate Knowledge Box

Knowledge Box

Care home staff training and ongoing learning are an important part of providing high-quality, person-centred care. That’s why we’re always looking for new ways to help our teams refresh their knowledge, share ideas and build confidence in the care they provide.

Look what we’ve been working on behind the scenes…

We’re excited to introduce the Westgate Knowledge Box – a new and engaging way for our colleagues to test their knowledge. In addition, they can learn something new and start conversations with their teams.

The Knowledge Box contains 400 questions covering the Care Quality Commission (CQC), good practice and the knowledge that supports great care.

The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Understanding its expectations, keeping up to date with good practice and continually developing our knowledge are all important parts of providing safe, effective and compassionate care.

Learning beyond formal training

At Westgate, learning and development isn’t just about completing formal training courses. We want to encourage a culture where our colleagues feel confident asking questions and sharing knowledge. Moreover, we support them in continuing to learn as part of everyday life in our care homes.

The Knowledge Box is one of the ways we’re doing this. Whether it’s testing something you already know, discovering something new or discussing a question with a colleague, it provides a simple way to keep important knowledge fresh.

Most importantly, investing in our people supports the people who matter most – our residents. When our teams have the knowledge, skills and confidence they need, they can provide thoughtful, personalised care. As a result, each resident can feel safe, valued and at home.

Better knowledge. Greater confidence. Even better care.
