For Burford House residents Muir and Philip, a visit to Lord’s Cricket Ground was a special wish they had been hoping to fulfil.
We were delighted to make this experience a reality for them. From the moment they arrived, there was a real sense of excitement as they took in the atmosphere of Lord’s and settled in to enjoy a day watching the sport they love.

A Special Day Shared with Family
The day became even more special when one resident’s brother and son joined them, sharing the experience together.
Resident at Burford House said: ‘It made me so happy to have my brother and my son there with me. Being able to share such a special day with them made it even more enjoyable.”

Making the Most of the Day
Birinder, Activities Lead, and Sam, Healthcare Assistant, also joined the outing. Helping to make sure the residents could relax and enjoy every moment.
Birinder said:“It was such a lovely day to be part of. Seeing how excited our residents were throughout the day was fantastic. And being able to support them in enjoying something they had really wanted to do made it even better.”
From watching the cricket to soaking up the atmosphere of one of the country’s most famous sporting grounds, it was a day filled with special moments.

A Wish Come True
For Muir and Philip, the trip to Lord’s was about much more than watching a cricket match. It was about making a personal wish happen, enjoying time with family and having the freedom to experience something they had been looking forward to.
Our Make a Wish Initiative
Our Make a Wish initiative helps residents turn personal wishes into memorable experiences, from simple treats and activities to special days out and bigger adventures. Each home chooses a wish to fulfil every month from the wishes shared on our Wishing Tree, while larger wishes are entered into our group-wide Big Wish draw. It is all about celebrating what matters to each resident and creating opportunities to enjoy experiences that are personal, exciting and special.
