Wild Wild West’gate at Byron House

Byron House Care Home hosted their Annual Summer BBQ in the beautiful sunshine yesterday.

Every year, Byron House choose a theme for their Annual Summer BBQ, and this year, after the votes were counted, the theme chosen was Wild Wild West!

With the team and residents taking part in the celebrations, everyone donned their cowboy hats, masks/bandanas, and boots ready to unleash their inner cowboy/cowgirl! Byron House's activities team worked hard to transform their big garden space into Western America with lots of food, drink, and games available for the fun-filled day.

Photos of residents and team members were displayed on a 'Most Wanted' list on show in the garden, offering a hefty reward for their capture.

The home's Chef took pride and place at the BBQ station, cooking hot dogs, burgers, chicken, as well as prepping the salad and rice. The food was a big hit with the residents, with many going up for a second, even third plate. Compliments to the Chef!

Everyone put on their dancing shoes to participate in a bit of line dancing, showing off their best moves in a synchronised rhythm. There was also a horseshoe throwing competition, with participants taking turns to throw the horseshoes onto a rake. It was a close competition. Resident Bertie stole the show and won first place. Well done, Bertie!

The team at Byron also revealed the winner of their Pet Competition, a contest that involved the Aylesbury community who sent in their favourite photos of their pets! Congratulations to our team member, Vicky, who won ‘Best In Show’ with a cute picture of her dog.

Byron House's Home Manager, Hope Timbe said "Thank you to everyone who attended, and participated, in this year's Annual Summer BBQ. It was great fun seeing everyone dress up and enjoying the sunny weather. Congratulations to all the winners, and hopefully, we can extend the invite and see more faces next year."

It was a day to remember, with everyone in high spirits, enjoying the fun and sunshine.
