Westgate Healthcare celebrates Diwali with donation.

Happy Diwali!  Once again, it is time to celebrate the festival of light, however, like many other festivities during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have not been able to celebrate Diwali in the traditional Westgate way. Instead, on behalf of the organisation, our Directors have kindly donated to the Akshaya Patra Foundation. This fantastic charity, based in India, strives to tackle the issues of hunger, malnutrition, and the right to education. This donation will help to provide fresh and nutritious vegetarian meals, delivered via their two programmes; Food for Education in India and Beat the Hunger in the UK. Details of these initiatives can be found below: Food for Education:  Working in partnership with the Government of India, the Food for Education programme serves over 1.8 million children a freshly cooked and nourishing hot lunch every day, across 19,039 schools. Their mission is to provide meals to 5 million children by 2025. Beat the Hunger: Beat the Hunger aims to end hunger in the UK via sustained nutrition. Wholesome vegetarian meals are served throughout the country to holiday clubs, schools, homeless people, and seniors; striving to deliver 100,000 meals in the UK by 2025. Tara Teubner, Director at Westgate Healthcare said: “At Westgate Healthcare, we are passionate about care and supporting our communities, which is why this Diwali, we are delighted to be supporting the Akshaya Patra Foundation on behalf of our team. This fantastic charity strives for such a worthwhile cause and we are delighted to be able to offer our support during what has been a challenging year for us all.” If you are interested in getting involved with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, please visit their website.  Alternatively, if you would like further information about our care homes, please call us on 0808 159 6547.
