Beaming Smiles as Westgate Healthcare Celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Westgate Healthcare homes came together, holding afternoon tea and street parties in their homes in honour of Her Majesty, the Queen’s long 70-year reign.

Excitement and celebrations began in early June as the nation celebrated and thanked Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for 70 years of service. Group-wide, all Westgate Healthcare homes prepared for the four-day long festivities, creating homemade bunting, frosting cupcakes and organising activities fit for the home’s royal residents.

The residents created an opulent display of blue, red and white around the home with the help of their activities teams. All homes enjoyed good weather throughout the bank holiday weekend as they took their parties outdoors and indulged with platters of food and refreshments while keeping up-to-date with the Queen’s activities on BBC One. Residents felt patriotic, knowing they were celebrating one of the year’s most significant celebrations along with the rest of the World.

Renata Sulugiuc, Care Home Manager at Riverdale Care Home, said:

“It was the biggest privilege hosting a party in honour of our Queen’s 70 years since she succeeded to the throne. This is the first time in English history we have been able to celebrate 70 years of a Monarch. Our residents felt incredibly patriotic and put much effort into making this long bank holiday weekend as perfect as possible”.
