The Great British Care Cycle Relay

Burford House Care Home proudly welcomed a team of enthusiastic cyclists who participated in the ‘Great British Care Cycle Relay’ to celebrate this year’s Care Home Open Week!

To celebrate the length and breadth of care homes across the country, the inaugural ‘Great British Cycle Relay’ travelled from the North to the South, via Wrexham visiting different care homes that are at the heart of each community, passing a baton along the way.

Care Home Manager Brenda Sweetman commented on the dedication and perseverance of all who participated in the event.

‘’This was a wonderful day that successfully highlighted the incredible value of the social care sector in the UK and the importance of community and acknowledges the special relationships between care homes, residents, families, and all team members who contribute to the care of our residents’’.

Residents from Burford House Care Home proudly greeted all cyclists, offering hydration and a selection of healthy snacks to help keep energy levels high for the last leg of their tour into London! Burford House Care Home even had the support from the children of Christchurch School who waved and cheered on the cyclists before their rest break!

Championing Social Care aims to connect communities and bring together different sections of society to highlight the importance of Social Care in the UK and ‘The Great British Cycle Relay’ certainly achieved this! A great day had by all.
