Westgate Healthcare extend ‘Big Wish’ initiative to staff

We are delighted to announce we have extended our ‘Big Wish’ initiative to our employees, as a thank you for their commitment and dedication over the past year.

About the Big Wish

The ‘Big Wish’ was originally created by the teams at Westgate Healthcare to support the wellbeing of our residents, by realising the dream of one lucky resident in each of our homes, every six months. Following the Coronavirus pandemic and the commitment and resistance of our workforce, Westgate Healthcare made the decision to extend the initiative to our staff to support their wellbeing following an unprecedented year.

The ongoing pandemic has been difficult for many who work in the healthcare sector, including care workers and nurses who have made sacrifices to commit to their work, even if that means living separately from their loved ones and moving into the care home.

As a family-run care organisation, we understand the importance of support, care and celebrating milestones together with staff and residents. Extending the ‘Big Wish’ to our staff is one of the many ways we are thanking our teams. We intend to grant one wish per care home in January and will continue to grant wishes periodically in 2021.

Tara Teubner, Westgate Healthcare Director, said: “The past year has made us reflect on the importance of remembering and rewarding the people who inspire us and make a difference each day to our residents’ lives.  We are deeply grateful to every team member across our homes.”
