Riverdale Care Home welcomes first contact visits

Riverdale was amongst one of the first care homes in Braintree to welcome contact visits between residents and their loved ones. The home was delighted to open its doors for contact visits earlier this month following the government’s recent announcement. Riverdale resident, June, was able to spend some quality time with her daughter and the occasion was made extra special with the mother daughter duo able to hold hands throughout their time together. June, who is a painting enthusiast, gifted her daughter one of the paintings she made during lockdown to mark the special occasion. June’s daughter Debbie said: “This visit has made my day.”

The new plan announced by the government is a step to bring families together safely as the nation moves out of lockdown. The 32-bed residential home will continue to facilitate safe visiting alongside contact visits, to ensure that residents receive regular contact with their relatives.

Jackie, Home Manager at Riverdale, said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce that our first close contact visits started earlier this month, and we are honoured to be part of these precious moments bringing families together again.”
