Pip becomes a Beaver at 101 years old
A group of Beavers from Hemel Hempstead have visited the residents at St Pauls Care Centre to sing Christmas carols and handout decorations and handmade Christmas cards to each of the residents, whilst delivering a special present to one of the residents.
Pip has been a resident at St Pauls Care Centre for 6 years and she told the staff “I wish I could be a Beaver but I’m too old”, so the staff at St Pauls spoke to the Beavers Group Leader to see if Pip could become an Honorary member of the Beavers.
Proving that age really has no barrier, a colony of Beavers visited St Pauls last week to present Pip with the neckerchief and a full group salute to make her an Honorary member.
Pip, a resident at St Pauls Care Centre and Honorary Beaver, said:
“I can’t believe my wish has come true. You’re all so lovely, how wonderful!”
Beth Marchant-Roe, Head of Activities at St Pauls Care Centre, said:
“The Beavers bring so much energy to the home and it is infectious, they encourage the residents to break out of their shells by singing, chatting and even exercising with them.
“Our residents with dementia really enjoy the reminiscence they get from talking about their family and children, it’s always lovely to see. In turn Tyla, the Beavers Group Leader, said it was great seeing the children ask questions about the home and the residents, and the regular visits has seen the children become more inquisitive.”
