Sun, Fun, and Fish and Chips: Westgate House Residents’ Day at Southend-on-Sea

Our Westgate House residents went on an exciting adventure to Southend-on-Sea on Tuesday. They set off early in the morning, taking a minibus with their favourite driver, Paul. Knowing how hot it would be, Paul prepared a mini-fridge with bottles of water for the one-hour journey.

They arrived to perfect beach weather with beautiful sunshine and not a cloud in sight. Residents and the Activities team enjoyed a delightful walk along the seafront, followed by a delicious fish and chips lunch at a lovely restaurant.

After lunch, they headed to the arcades for some fun on the 2p machines. Jan and Natalie from the Activities team decided to try the horse ride game, but Jan, being vertically challenged, couldn’t quite make it up!

Later, everyone enjoyed iced drinks while people-watching. Resident Heather ventured to the coastline to find shells for the other ladies.

Their last stop was at Rossi’s, the beloved ice-cream parlour known from past visits. After indulging in their favourite ice cream, they returned to the minibus. On the way, they encountered two friendly local policemen who stopped for a chat and a selfie for their website and social channels.
