Care Home Open Day, Saturday 21st April – Join us!

We’re so excited about the forthcoming Care Home Open Day, and hope that we’ll see lots of new faces around the homes during our weekend of activities. Scheduled to take place on Saturday 21st April, this year’s Care Home Open Day is set to be the biggest yet, with record numbers of care homes around the UK taking part. It’s been organised on a Saturday to help more people enjoy what’s on offer, and also to coincide with International Care Home Open Day and the Queen’s 92nd birthday. If you’ve never been along to this annual event before, here’s what you need to know.

What is Care Home Open Day?

This annual event has been taking place for six years and is growing in popularity and participation with every year that goes by. It offers care home providers the chance to open their doors to the curious, the community, local dignitaries and press, and to have fun and show how warm and welcoming our facilities really are.

Why come to Care Home Open Day?

We’ve seen first-hand the great results that our Care Home Open Day can have, so whether you’re a relative of one of our residents, a local community member or anyone else who would like to pop along, you will be welcomed with open arms. Care Home Open Days can help to:

  • Break down misconceptions: So many people still think care homes are miserable, boring places, and our open day helps to break down these myths.
  • Make new friends: We’re keen to build bridges with those in our local community, and at our open days we encourage schools, community groups, religious groups and more to come and meet the wonderful characters who live in our home.
  • Recognition for our team: Our care workers toil away day in, day out to ensure residents are safe, loved and cared for. The open day gives others a chance to see first hand the amazing work they do, and to appreciate the tough job they have.
  • Fun for residents too: Our residents love meeting new people, and with all the activities we have planned for our open day, we know they’re going to have a great time this year.

We have the pleasure of being around our residents every day, and we’d love to share their company with you. Come along to our open day and meet some of the most interesting, intelligent, colourful characters you’ll ever have encountered!

What’s going on at Westgate?
