St Pauls Care Home Grants Wishes for a Birthday Star
Jean, a resident at St Pauls Care Centre in Hemel Hempstead, was granted an extra special wish on her birthday thanks to Westgate Healthcare’s ‘Make a Wish’ initiative.
Resident, Jean, has always enjoyed receiving wishes from Westgate Healthcare’s unique initiative, ‘Make A Wish’. The initiative invites residents to write their wish on a tag which is then hung onto the home’s ‘Wishing Tree’ until granted.
Jean wished for a ‘new outfit and a nice meal’, which the activities team organised. The team included members of Jean’s family, so no details were overlooked and to ensure her style and preferences were considered.
Lucy, Head of Activities at St Pauls Care Centre, said: “Jean is such a wonderful and unique woman. She is always looking out for all the other residents, and she rarely puts herself above anyone else and deserves to be the star for the day. We all care for Jean so much and loved celebrating her birthday with her.”
St Pauls Care Centre’s newly refurbished pub was decorated in Jean’s favourite colours and adorned with balloons and ribbon. Jean was joined by residents of the home for a traditional British birthday meal of fish and chips, followed by the Chef’s signature freshly baked homemade birthday cake. The latter of the day was spent playing games and dancing to music with her friends at St Pauls Care Centre.
Jean said: “I feel really special, thank you so much to my amazing ladies and gentleman here. I love my beautiful new dress; I can’t believe my wish came true!”
