Jaqueline Turns 100 Years Old
Early May brought big celebrations into our Braintree home, Riverdale Care Home. Jaqueline, our wonderful resident at Riverdale turned the significant age of 100, and the staff at Riverdale ensured that it was a birthday to remember! The newest centenarian at Riverdale Care Home woke up to her bedroom decorated with balloons, cards, flowers and gifts from her loved ones and her Riverdale family!
All of our Westgate Healthcare homes make a special effort to recognise and celebrate all our residents’ birthdays. As a family-owned & run care group, we feel that it’s essential to create an environment that promotes independence, fulfilment, happiness, and excitement for residents living in our care homes.
The day brought much laughter for Jaqueline as she caught up with her family members through close contact and POD visits, simultaneously. Jaqueline’s niece and her niece’s daughter visited with an adorable surprise! The newest addition to her family, a grandchild, was introduced to Jaqueline through the POD visit. It was wonderful to see four generations of family together which Riverdale Care Home has not seen since the beginning of lockdown.
Later that day, Jaqueline received a video call from her daughter, across the sea in Canada! It was an incredibly emotional event, and we felt honoured to be able to bring these family members together in celebration of Jaqueline!
Jaqueline, said, “I’m so happy that I was able to see my niece’s grandchild today. It’s been a wonderful day, thank you all so much”. Later, we held a tea party with her Riverdale friends and neighbours at the home, where she was showered with gifts and a sumptuous birthday cake to close a spectacular day for our centenarian.
