Westgate Healthcare donate to the Isabel Hospice
Throughout 2022, the Westgate Healthcare Head Office team came together to support Isabel Hospice, offering donations for the charity with a bi-weekly bake sale.
“Every week, the team would run upstairs eager to discover which delicious freshly baked treats were on offer, and by Tuesday, all of the treats had been devoured.”
Isabel Hospice charity based in East Hertfordshire supports patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses and conditions, including cancer, heart failure or respiratory illness, and neurological conditions such as motor neurone disease.
Westgate Healthcare is a family owned and run care home group with nine homes across Hertfordshire, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, London and Essex. The medium-sized care home group has recently won various awards, such as the Great British Care Awards 2022, and has received overall ‘Outstanding’ in three of their homes governed by the regulator, Care Quality Commission.
Clinical teams work closely with Westgate Healthcare’s Hertfordshire homes, providing invaluable training in palliative care, whereby knowledge and expertise are shared.
Deborah Christian, Chief Operating Officer, said: “The cake sale was a great way for us to cultivate our culinary skills whilst contributing to a worthy cause.”

Baked goods included creamy walnut, apple and cinnamon cake, soft succulent banana bread, rich sticky toffee pudding, traditional carrot cake, rich and sweet lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut, brownies, cupcakes and much more.
Team members at Westgate Healthcare made weekly donations, and the quarterly amount raised was displayed on the staff board. Altogether, £308.25 was raised throughout 2022.
Westgate Healthcare donated the money to the Isobel Hospice in January 2023 and has plans to restart a new fundraising scheme in the next few months.
