Big Wishes Granted for Residents Brian and John

Biannually, we ask all our homes to put forward a resident ‘Big Wish’ and this year, we granted the wishes of two residents in our Hertfordshire homes.

The resident ‘Big Wish’ initiative was designed to give our residents the opportunity to have their unique wishes granted, whatever they may be, creating an exceptional and bespoke experience for them to remember.

This year, Brian from Ashview Nursing Home and John from Westgate House Care Centre were the lucky winners of our group-wide competition. Usually, residents take the opportunity to enjoy a singular experience for themselves, however, this year both of our winners opted for a wish that was inclusive for all their neighbouring residents and staff to enjoy, thus bonding their community as they create special memories together.

At Ashview, the home organised a spectacular event with a live jazz band in their garden, as part of Brian’s wish to have a ‘jazz afternoon in the garden’. The jazz band was accompanied alongside a small in-house party serving bite-sized treats and champagne.

John’s wish was technology-related, which led to the home organising a week-long Virtual Reality experience. He and the residents were transported to another part of the world and also took part in scuba diving, rollercoaster rides and more!

Jazz lover and Ashview Nursing Home resident, Brian, said:

“Thank you for granting me my wish! I love jazz and knew that many others would love the experience at our home.”

Gadget whiz and Westgate House Care Centre resident, John, said:

“Thank you for granting my ‘Big Wish’ I enjoyed the experience very much. Well done!”
