COVID safe PODS in place to support visiting over Christmas
Westgate Healthcare is delighted to announce that all of our homes can now facilitate safe visiting, with secure screened spaces due to our specially designed COVID-19 safe visiting PODS. During the winter, a permanent safe indoor visiting solution for our residents within our care homes was required.
The senior team at Westgate Healthcare worked closely with the maintenance team and external contractors to develop safe space solutions within each care home, ranging from internal secure pod areas with separate entrances for visitors and residents, redesigning internal room layouts and building specially constructed external visiting pods.
Following the recent government announcement, care home visits will be frequently reviewed during the lockdown period and our visiting pods will provide safe visiting following government COVID-19 safe guidelines.
The new pods boast heated rooms that are regimentally cleaned after every visit and use perspex screens and intercom systems that allow interaction whilst complying with social distancing restrictions. Families can share intimate hand to hand moments via the perspex screen and the visitor pods can provide much-needed private time between the residents and their loved one.
A relative from St Pauls Care Centre, said: “The meeting room is absolutely fantastic, I appreciate St Pauls providing a COVID secure space to enable me, and others, to visit their loved ones. The microphone and glass partition means we can chat safely face to face while seeing each other’s smiles and expressions which means so much!”
Congratulations to the hard-working teams at each of the care homes for making these a success and a special big thank you to our wonderful maintenance team who have worked tirelessly to get these PODS ready for Christmas.
