Westgate Healthcare – Covid-19 Updates

Dear team members, residents, relatives, and friends, we would like to update you on some of our developments around safety assurance within our care homes following Covid-19.

We continue to carry out regular testing across all of our care settings, including all new admissions. This allows us to facilitate safe visiting and interaction between residents and their loved ones.

Keeping Loved Ones Connected

We are delighted to have kept all our residents in regular contact with their loved ones throughout the pandemic by increasing the number of smart phones and tablets in all Westgate Healthcare homes. With the fantastic support of our committed staff, our residents have enjoyed regular quality time with loved ones while contact visits weren’t permitted.

“Throughout the pandemic, Riverdale Care Home has strived to keep us in contact with our loved ones as we are unable to visit face to face, and they kept us informed of developments and changes with our loved ones.”

Julie, Niece of Resident, Riverdale Care Home

We understand how important it is for our residents to see their loved ones. Whilst the Covid-19 virus remains a risk to the population, we need to ensure that we do our best to keep our residents safe whilst allowing as much contact with friends and family as possible. With guidance from the government, local health authorities, and organisations such as the Care Provider Alliance (CPA) and in line with strict local protocols, we are currently facilitating visiting in a number of safe ways:

  • Indoor Visits – in our new specially constructed, Covid safe, visiting PODS.

  • Virtual Communication – connecting residents with their loved ones via phone, FaceTime, WhatsApp, video call, Skype.
  • Garden Visits – in our beautiful picturesque outdoor gardens.
  • Room Visits – for those receiving “End of Life Care” or in extreme circumstances.

At Westgate Healthcare we have successfully administered the first round of the Covid-19 vaccine to our residents and staff.  We are extremely grateful for all your support and understanding during this difficult time. There are significant strides being made in the management of Covid-19 and we hope for a much brighter next few months for you and your loved ones. If you have any questions, please contact one of our Home Managers or e-mail

Whilst employing and developing group-wide visiting policies we have also tried to consider individual needs by conducting risk assessments and developing tailored visiting care plans where appropriate. As we continue to roll out the Covid vaccine across our care settings and look ahead to a brighter Spring, residents will continue to make regular use of telephone and video calls. Please contact our care homes to book some quality time with your loved one. If you are enquiring about care and would like to book a virtual visit, please complete our short enquiry form or give our team a call today.
