Chestnut Manor resident raised £100 for Water Aid at local craft fair

On Saturday 12th August, residents and team members from Chestnut Manor gathered in Wanstead Parish Hall Christ Church for the Artisan Events UK Wanstead Hand Crafted Market.

Our talented Resident Sister Catherine sold several beautifully hand- drawn cards raising £100 for Water Aid UK.

Sr Catherine found she could draw when she turned 60 and began looking for a new hobby, at the grand age of 94 she now spends her afternoons drawing these beautiful cards and always donates any money raised to charity. Sr Catherine chose WaterAid because she knows she is helping adults and children alike and access to clean water is a basic right for everyone.

WaterAidUK said “Sr Catherine’s cards are absolutely beautiful, we extend our warmest thanks to her for her wonderful support of our work, we really appreciate it.”

Home manager Rosie said ‘it was a wonderful opportunity to allow our residents to show case their creative talents and get out in the community, it was a fun day had by all’.

Chestnut Manor Care Home will be hosting a Craft Fair on Saturday 16th September from 10-4pm. with handmade artisan gifts, crafts, jewellery, sweet treats, refreshments and much more.
