Charles Races to Win Westgate Healthcare’s Resident Big Wish Competition
Riverdale Care Home resident, Charles, recently won Westgate Healthcare’s ‘Resident Big Wish’ competition, receiving his wish to ‘Watch a horse race with my daughter and dinner with a bottle of bubbly’.
Award-winning care provider, Westgate Healthcare, strives to deliver person-centred activities and occasions with residents’ family members that support the family community to thrive.
Charles and his daughter were invited to an afternoon race featuring Rio Fredrika on Sunday, 24th July, at Chelmsford City Racecourse. As a VIP guest, Charles could visit their winning connections for champagne and receive a talk from the racecourse tipster.
Luxury Care Home, Riverdale Care Home in Braintree, arranged the event for Charles. The activities team organised money for betting, a three-course a la carte meal, VIP access, and live music from capital FM Radio’s DJ, Rio Fredrika.
Renata Sulugiuc, Riverdale Care Home Manager, said: “I’m very happy that we were able to fulfil Charles’ wish and that he had an amazing day. Our ‘Resident Big Wish’ is a great initiative, implemented to enhance the lives of the residents in our care, and we are delighted to give Charles the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic experience.”
Charles, a Resident at Riverdale Care Home, said: “It was all very good. I loved the food and liked the people there. They were nice to me and looked after us very well. The horse racing was great, and I could see everything. I would love to go again someday.”
