Care for Others. Make A Difference. #CareWithUsAtWestgate

‘Care for Others. Make a Difference’ is a new national recruitment campaign launched by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) across England to celebrate the extraordinary work performed by care workers across the nation and to inspire the right people with the right values and attributes to consider a paid career in adult social care work.

Including our team members at Westgate Healthcare, did you know there are over 1.49 million people in the adult social care workforce working tirelessly to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Applying to be an adult care worker at this time – even if temporarily – would be hugely rewarding and a great way to support your community in a time of need.

There are approximately 122,000 paid vacancies available across the country offering fulfilling and flexible work – from care assistants, to administration, to community support. While rigorous training is available to develop care workers into highly skilled professionals, at the beginning of a career in care at Westgate Healthcare the focus is on values as opposed to experience.

The most important qualities needed in new care workers are that they are able to treat others with respect, listen to their needs, understand their emotions and be warm, kind and honest. A good standard of English, numeracy and digital skills, attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team is also important. There are also many paid roles at Westgate Healthcare which do not require the individual to hold qualifications.

Be it full time or as a temporary measure, perhaps in response to employment changes experienced at present due to coronavirus, if you or someone you know may be suitable for a position in social care – we encourage you to apply for one of the many positions currently available at Westgate Healthcare – click here for a list of vacancies.

Keep a look out for the Department of Health and Social Care campaign on TV and radio. Our team members, from each one of our care homes, we will be sharing their unique stories with you very soon!
