Burford House raises over £1100 for East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity
Burford House Care Home team members and our Westgate Healthcare Marketing Manager, took part in this year’s Moor Park Charity Fun Run on Sunday 24th September.
The annual community event for families, local schools and businesses, saw over 900 people take part in a variety of children’s fun runs throughout the afternoon, followed by an adult chip-timed 10k walk and run. Set in the beautiful grounds of Merchant Taylors’ School, Moor Park Golf Course and the Moor Park estate, a great day was had by all and the sun even came out just in time for the run.
Tracy Cox, Customer Relations Manager, organised and collaborated with all involved, manning a stand where children could get their face painted for a small donation to this worthy cause. Tracy said “What a fantastic day, it was great to take part and see everyone have so much fun whilst raising money for such a good cause. Burford House have been building their relations with Mount Vernon where we have recently donated a Butterfly box to their gardens and are looking forward to our next event of planting trees in their garden.”
Birinder, Activities Co-Ordinator said, “We all had so much fun, it was great to get the team together to help others.”
Collectively the group raised over £1170 for the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, supporting the amazing work carried out, including helping to fund the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre.
Overall charity funds are still coming in, with the hope to raise over £60,000, which could fund:
- 3 months of free complementary therapies offered to patients at the Lynda Jackson Centre
- A scalp cooling machine and caps to help reduce hair loss
- A 3-month research project to develop innovative treatments for patients
- Sky art panels, murals, and sound systems for our scanning rooms
