Animal Workshops Mobile Zoo Brings Joy and Cheer to Riverdale Care Home Residents

The spirit of Easter came alive at Riverdale Care Home as residents welcomed special visitors from the Animal Workshops Mobile Zoo on Tuesday 26th March. In true Riverdale style, this unique and interactive experience aimed to bring a difference to Easter celebrations, providing therapeutic benefits through close encounters with a variety of friendly animals.

Residents and guests had the opportunity to interact with a diverse range of animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, tortoises, lizards, giant millipedes, meerkats, and Petal the skunk, in a safe and supervised environment, fostering a sense of connection and engagement.


Studies have shown that animal-assisted activities can have numerous positive effects on individuals, interacting with animals has been linked to reduced stress, increase socialization, and improve overall well-being. By bringing the Animal Workshop Mobile Zoo to Riverdale Care Home, memorable experiences were created, enriching the lives of residents.

Lynda Inch, Customer Relations Manager said “We recognize the importance of providing meaningful activities that promote happiness and fulfilment, and we believe that interacting with animals can have a profound impact on the emotional and mental well-being of our residents. Everyone had a fabulous day and our residents are still talking about it now.”

Animal Workshop Mobile Zoo is known for its educational and interactive animal encounters, designed to entertain and educate audiences of all ages. Their team of experienced animal handlers ensured the safety and comfort of both animals and participants, making the experience enjoyable for everyone involved.

Additionally, during the event, the Easter Bunny personally greeted each resident, posing for photographs and sharing warm hugs and high-fives. Their presence brought a sense of magic and wonder to Riverdale Care Home, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for years to come. Regular entertainer Joanne Lee came along for the extravaganza singing classics, which added to the magical Easter atmosphere.
